HIMALAYANS!

Carrying on my current theme of looking back in time, I found these pictures of Himalayans our family raised over the last 10 years...

Himalayans have been in my Barn since 1989.

My sister started showing Himalayans when she was 6.  Now my daughter Lena shows Himalayans.
Himalayans are awesome for kids!  They are gentle, relaxed and docile, perfect for showmanship.  Their body type is very unique, they are cylindrical shaped like a paper towel tube.  The points of the Himalayan can be in 4 colors; Black, Blue, Chocolate and Lilac.

RED!

Magee's Red HOT- Mini Satin

Red is my Favorite color on Animals!
It's such an attractive color.
With the Satin Fur mutation the
red color is made even more
brilliant due to the light reflecting
off the clear hair shell.

Magee's Big Rig

Here are some examples of the beautiful Reds I have raised over the last 25 years.
Big Rig (Red 6/8 Buck) won BOV at the Indianapolis Convention in 2005, the same year I received my judges licence.

In the Beginning

I was looking at some old pictures and found this one.
It's from 2005, our first harvest!

Cayucos Beach

The family made a run down to Templeton yesterday to pick up 2 tons for rabbit feed.  Afterwards we all headed to the Cayucos State Beach.  The weather was perfect and everyone had a wonderful afternoon!

The Pit and Wall the kids made.
It got bigger as the day progressed!

Oh, the many colors...

Mini Satins are a relatively new breed to the American Rabbit Breeders Assoc.  In 2005, J Leo Collins presented and passed (for the third and final showing) the Mini Satin breed with the White variety. Then in 2009 Siamese, Opal, Red and Chinchilla varieties were passed by other successful breeders.  These are the only varieties that have passed to date and can be shown in regular competition.  I am working on the development of the Copper Variety and others are in the development and presentation process of several other colors.

Nectarines!

Artic Pride is our last variety of white Nectarine.
Nectarines are simply Peaches without the fuzz.
I like being able to eat them fresh off the tree, no peeling necessary!

The last variety...

Edward is busy picking our Snow Giant Peaches.  This is our last variety of peach for the season.  We still have another week of Artic Pride Nectarines, but the peaches are done until next year.

More From Alaska

We found a quilt shop in Fairbanks called Material Girls.  Beautiful Quilts made by Alaskans.

The Big Grizzly REALLY made me look small!

The Kids up there were awesome!  I am talking to them about judging a class of rabbits.
They listened very intently then each took a turn at judging.

Alaska

Ed and I traveled to Fairbanks Alaska in August 2011.  The Alaska Pipeline was on our list of "Must Sees"

We visited the Chena Hot Springs about an hour outside of Fairbanks.  This is the Ice Bar in the Ice House complete with Solid Ice Martini glasses.

The Chena Hot Springs are said to have healing properties from the minerals in the water.  The water is 140 degrees and is cooled to 104 for soaking weary bodies.

The young bull moose that stopped for a quick photo opp!

Traveled to North Pole Alaska to visit with the big guy.
