Frozen

 Icicles in the trees...
After irrigating for 24 hours yesterday, we woke up to ice on the trees.  We have not had any rain in December or January so the trees needed water.  Combined with 20 degree low last night...    Voila!    Ice!

Lena and Russell collected icicles before school this morning
Very pretty sight first thing in the morning

Showing Rabbits at Alameda County Fair

4-H in Action 1988 Demonstrating grooming Angoras
This is from 1988 the last year I showed rabbits in 4-H.  Third place Advanced Showmanship at Alameda County Fair.  Yes that is an English Angora I'm holding!

1989 I started showing my Rabbits in FFA.  I won Reserve Champion Meat Pen that year with Red Satins!  Pictured with the buyers Mr. and Mrs. Escalona.

Showmanship 1990, first place Advanced.  That's Dani White as the judge.

I continue to show rabbits at the Alameda County Fair in Open and have won Best in Show at the fair 3 times since showing as a youth.

Planting Hay

My boys planting this year's hay.
Ed's out planting the open field today in wheat and oat seed for horse and rabbit hay.  Hasn't been much rain this season, but we are hoping it arrives now that we have the crop planted!

Straight rows with the beds furrowed up (60 inch spacing) allow us to irrigate when we don't get enough rain.  In Vernalis we usually only see 8 inches of rain per year.

Showmanship

I've shown a lot of different spiecies, other than rabbits.  Here is a quick look at some of the other critters I raised and exhibited...
